Governance, Management, and Administration
Sets out processes and systems to show how your service is governed effectively and managed according to legal requirements, Ministry of Education guidance, and good practice.
Includes policies on Te Tiriti, Concerns and Complaints, and Privacy and Confidentiality, as well as space for your centre’s unique values and philosophy. Also covers whānau involvement and information and supports strong relationships with parents and caregivers.
Child Wellbeing, Care, and Protection
Core policies to protect tamariki, including child protection, supervision, sleep, food and nutrition, health care, toileting, and excursions.
Premises and Facilities
Covers design, maintenance, and use of your environment—ensuring it’s safe, fit-for-purpose, and supports learning. Includes centre design, ventilation/heating/lighting, equipment and resources.
Finance
Policies for managing fees, funding, fraud prevention, and financial responsibilities.
Curriculum and Learning
Covers how you plan, assess, and report on learning—aligned with Te Whāriki. Includes inclusive education, social and emotional competence, how you share updates on children with whānau.
Health and Safety
From hazard registers and risk management to emergency procedures, lockdowns, and first aid requirements and practices – this section takes care of the health and safety of everyone at the centre.
